Silverstein @ The Turret

This is Billy Hamilton from the band Silverstein I decided to bring only my camera and my 50mm lens to the o-week campus party and leave my 18-70mm and my flash at home. It was definitely a change from what I am used to, but by the end of the show I think I had a decent grasp on what was working and what wasn't. Two advantages I found were that the shots feel a lot more like the concert (since there is no flash mixing in with the ambient) and that you don't have to worry about the band members getting annoyed with your flash. A disadvantage is that it is really hard to freeze motion and get crisp, sharp shots. The biggest disadvantage of the 50mm is that on a digital camera it is a bit too tight, so it was hard to get everything I wanted into the frame.
