From 11:45 pm to about an hour later no matter where you looked had fireworks in the sky as far as you could see. It sounded like what I imagine a kernel of corn hears just before it pops. We got up onto our hostels roof and, due to height restrictions on all the buildings in the area, we were able to see for miles. It was pretty cool and we were definitely not impressed that we were told earlier by the staff that nothing really big happens for new year.
